VFW Post 2070 donates computers to college students

Staff - 3/13/2022

Local college students with military backgrounds were given free desktop computers on Sunday, March 13, 2022, courtesy of an initiative by members at VFW Post 2070, following a generous donation.

The initiative was spearheaded by former Senior Vice Commander Anthony Lindo, whose employer was conducting a systemwide computer upgrade and who were then willing to donate the computers directly to the post.

Members then met to discuss what to do with the gift, and they decided to provide the bulk of the computers to college students and asked staff at the Pasadena City College Veterans Resource Center to help facilitate that objective. The post also decided to upgrade its own computer system and to set up a permanent computer at the post for members to use.

As some of the students were VFW-eligible, they were able to immediately sign up to become members of the post as well. In addition, they were provided a free annual membership to the post, through new recruiting initiatives provided by the state and national VFW organizations, respectively.

VFW Post 2070 is dedicated to serving its members and its local community through various initiatives and programs. The VFW, officially known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, is a nonprofit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard and reserve forces.
